Something badass with my hockey playing niece. We had a fun time with her grad pics a few years ago.
Something vintage! This promo poster was something I created for Headin' Back, and the image itself 10 years old (taken in 2006/07) on film with my old school Canon AE-1. Image was developed then scanned and then poster was designed in Adobe Elements 3 (I think).
Another story - If I'm not mistaken this exact gig has a near death experience attached.
My husband did sound for Headin' Back and I had tagged along to this particular gig. It was outside in Dayton which is a common thing in the Summer, a lot of outside shows under tents. Our kiddo was at home with my Mom.
The weather really kicked up and next thing we knew the police were clearing out the tent and forcing people inside the small bar basement as the tornado sirens went off. Band was frantically trying to salvage gear and get things packed up and finally we all went inside, soaking wet. Ended up hunkered down for an hour or so until we got the all clear. On both sides of the road there were trees down, it had gotten really nasty! When we got home and had a chance to watch the news the next day, it was, indeed, a tornado touchdown with a big red arrow aiming right at the heart of Dayton, exactly where we'd been.
We learned that lesson the hard way: leave the gear and take cover! It could've been a lot worse!
The George family from 2013! I can't believe it's already been three years since I captured these kiddos, they've grown up so much!
Working with my friend Bridget Thuemmel of Drawfour Designs is always a pleasure.
(She's actually standing just off camera for this shot having just dropped the scarf so I could capture that 'caught in the wind' feel.)
