A Little About Melissa...
I've been surrounded by photography my entire life.
It’s in my nature—I picked up my first film camera at age 12 and fell in love with creating something out of the ordinary from what appears, on the surface, to be simple. I've had the opportunity to work in a darkroom, processing my negatives and prints with my own two hands, and have really explored the craft in a very tactile way. It was always amazing back in the days of film to watch someone look over their photos from a wedding, vacation, or other special event for the first time. With digital, that gratification is instant.
It’s in my heart—I want that same reaction from clients now. I want you to light up when you see your images and know that these photos aren't just snapshots. They are art, they are memories, and they will last forever. In a very real way, images bring us a sense of immortality like no other medium.
I believe that the key to creating a special image is capturing emotion and connection. I'd hope that when you look at my work, that energy is the one thing that remains consistent.
I love vivid colors, shadows, deep contrast, black & white, silhouettes, lush landscapes, and finding the extraordinary in the seemingly simple.
I believe that moments matter and they should be captured.
You don't realize the power of an image until the time is gone.
You are a work of art.
I want you to exist in photos.
